Parents and MTV

World wide most people can agree that MTV is a bad influence on kids. Imagine if you were in another country and viewed MTV you would already have preconceived idea of what MTV is and what it represents. Many views that are portrayed in the shows are things that you would not want your children exposed to, but many people come into contact with it. "Educate parents on the two-fold power of MTV. On the one hand, it is a powerful teacher and reality definer, shaping our kids and the world in which they live. Researchers have found that the marriage of television and music is powerful as multisensory input reinforces the music's content and message. On the other hand, MTV offers a concerned parent a bird's-eye view into the values, attitudes, and behaviors of today's children and teens." (Walt Mueller 1-2) MTV could have an effect on your child. Many kids do what they see on TV because they think it’s cool, and they look up to the person that is doing the uncharacteristic act.
